Quick and easy: String edged glass containers

Yesterday I suggested using glass containers for sorting and organising. There are many options for personalising glass containers, but I thought I would share one that I made using only twine and a hot glue-gun.

Supplies: Glass containers, string, glue-gun, and as always patience :)

Time: Depending on how much string you want to attach it can take anytime from 15 min. The two I made took about 15 min including prep-work.

Process:
  1. Test wrap your string of choice around the container. When you have figured out the length you want it you cut it.
  2. Next step is to dab a little bit of glue on the ends to make sure they don’t fray too much. I will suggest that you while it is still soft, but not straight out the glue-gun (CAUTION! Pay attention to what you are doing as the glue can be VERY HOT!), twirl it between your fingers to make sure that the ends are properly covered.
  3. Starting from the top of where you want to attach the string. Put a small bead of glue on the glass container and press the string into it. Now add 2 cm or so of glue running around the container attaching the string as you go. Just before coming full circle the first time, make sure to overlap the end a little bit so that it is hidden under the string.

If you try this DIY I would love to see what you came up with.

Until next time, have a great day :)

University life: Mood board / Colourful

This post is the fourth in a series where I write about living in university accommodation, and give suggestions to DIY's and decor options which you can do to make your dorm room more you.

Mood board: Colourful

Procrastination can really get the better of you, I am currently between exams, and hope that I between readings will find some time to finish of a few more mood boards. I'm sorry about all the waiting, but things are really crazy at the moment. Lots of planning for many different things - I will post all about it as soon as it is all finalized. Anyway, without further ado I would like to present to you my rendition of a colourful room decor.

All product photos used in this mood board are the property of IKEA, copied from their website. The Mumble-Jumble logo is the property of this blog.
Personalization is key with all my mood boards. For this look you can add for instance designate a whole or part of a wall to a collage of pictures, postcards, etc. that have special meaning to you. Use blue-tag, it makes it easy to move everything around till you find the perfect collage for you. The glass vases can be any vases, they can be used to display objects, but are also useful for organising your room. If you are a girl you know how annoying it is to NEVER be able to find your hairbands: designate one glas container as your hairband glass and it is much easier when you need that hairband just as you have to leave your room. Have fun with them, play around till you find what suits you. I have included the 'rast' bedside table as it is DIY able, you can paint it, stick wall stickers to it or decorate it otherwise. You can for instance buy two, and decorate it with your best friend before going to Uni. That way you will both have something with you that remind you of good times back home - trust me, sometimes it is nice to be reminded of back home :)

In order to cater to as many people as possible I have decided to only use IKEA products. This and coming mood board posts are not sponsored. I do not have experience with all the products, however I have added an asterisk (*) where I have tried and approve of the product.

From top left (name - description - article nr.):

If you do not live in the United Kingdom, by entering the article nr. on the IKEA website for your country you should be lead to the product if it is available.

Until next time, have a great day :)
